Past Fundraising Campaign
On 13th March 2015 Mary and myself visited De La Salle Boys School in Ballyfermot, Dublin to talk about our work in Malawi at the invitation of one of the teachers, Niamh O’Brien, who has done three volunteering spells, with us, in Malawi.
Niamh herself is a legend in Malawi as a result of a training programme she initiated and worked on with other amazing primary teachers from Ireland, in co-operation with the Mzuzu primary schools District Education Board. Their work is over four years is now impacting about 25,000 learners, as they are called each day.
Of all the schools we have visited this was certainly one of the most friendly. The staff were so welcoming and the boys were so alive and interested, having loads of questions at the end.
We brought one of the pumps and this attracted great interest.
On 19th May 2015 we were back again in De La Salle Boys National School in Ballyfermot, to a superstar welcome, attentive audience and a massive cheque.
Yes they followed-up on their Walk for Water on World Water Day with a huge collection of sponsorship.
A BIG Cheque for 2520 Euros. An amazing effort for such a small school of boys.
