Boyd Phiri

Joint Head of Planting Trees

He was born in 1995 in Lusangazi, in an area of Mzuzu. His mum is Joyce who works on the farm and he is the only child because unfortunately the first and second born died as they were just babies. His parents divorced when he was 4 years old.

He went to primary in Lusangazi. He went to secondary in Lukalazi (Nkhata-bay district) until form 3 and form 4 in Padre Pio Catholic secondary school. He changed school because the performance wasn’t good enough (Mary Coyne). As he lived on the farm in Lusangazi he was one of the few boys to be supported by WfZ.

Then he went to Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources. All his school period from secondary school to University has been helped for Wells for Zoë.

During School holidays and Saturdays he used to help in the garden but since qualifying with a degree in Horticulture in July 2018 he had been working with WfZ as Head of the Horticulture at the factory.

He has recently taken over as joint Head of Planting Trees along with Golden Chirwa – a most prestigious job at Wells for Zoë.
