11th October 2013:
This was the fourth of five pumps today. It was a replacement pump where the original pump failed (see this blip) and no one would return to fix it. The villagers took off the cover and cleaned out the original well (which was fine).
In many cases now we build around the pump, especially where there is big usage, firstly to prevent damage, but also to provide the women with a place to rest the bucket while lifting it onto their heads.
These three boys offered to help, one had his own trowel, built some brick and agreed to finish it. Wonderful!
This is a new area to us, where there is a new, young chief.
Looks like we will work with them on preschools and farming as well. They have started themselves, so its easy to help.
