The state of Africa

8th October 2013:

I accompanied William and Harisen on a visit to a new area today to look at newly dug wells and broken pumps with a view to installing 5 more on Friday next.
The pump in the picture was installed about nine years ago, failed soon after, and despite all efforts the original installers have refused to return.
This is the tragic scene all over our areas. It is a disgrace and a crime against humanity (that might be going a bit far) but you get my drift.

Hopefully by Friday evening another thousand of the poorest will have clean safe drinking water close to their homes, thanks to our most generous donors.
Another day when it was great to be alive.
