Wessie Nyirenda
Wessie, came to work for Wells for Zoë in 2011.
She began work on one of our outreach farms, to manage and water about 2 acres of citrus trees. She now manages the citrus grove at the farm in Lusangazi, where we have sown sunn hemp between the rows of oranges to add nitrogen to the soil.
Here we pump water from a river about 400 metres away into a 75,000 litre concrete tank. The watering goes on right through the year until the rains come in November to March/April at the earliest.
