Embangweni, Planter
Grades Zimba, aged 35, got married in 2005 in Embangweni area and has four children (three girls and two boys). Since 2005, she has faced very difficult situations. In that year, she gave birth to a baby boy and became a single mother, as her husband worked as a tenant farmer in Rumphi (Kabwafu). To provide for her family, she searched for bundles of firewood and exchanged them for maize flour.
In 2021, when Wells for Zoë arrived in Embangweni, she decided to look for work with the organisation. Although her husband offered her the opportunity to join him in tobacco farming in Kabwafu (Rumphi), she refused and continued working with Wells for Zoë to support her family. She is very happy with this organisation because she is able to buy food for the family and pay school fees for her children’s secondary education.
Grades wishes for the organisation to continue its presence in Embangweni so that she can continue to live a better life because of it.
