People in the village of Makuka were over the moon to receive a pump for the first time since the village was established. They had approached several offices seeking help with their water problem, but no one had been able to assist them. They are very thankful to Wells for Zoë for providing the village with clean and safe water within a short period of time.
The village is located a long distance from trading centres, making it difficult for people to access their daily necessities. Most villagers depend on farming for their livelihoods, but they have limited access to good markets where they can sell their produce. Instead, vendors travel to the village and buy their produce at very low prices.
