We were happily welcomed by the people of Nyumbu village. According to the village chief, they had been hoping to have good and clean water in the village for many years. They are now very happy that, at long last, Wells for Zoë has provided them with good and safe water.

The people in the village depend mainly on farming for their daily living. They grow a variety of crops, but production is low because of poor soil fertility. To achieve better harvests, they need to apply fertiliser, which many farmers cannot afford because of the high cost.
