The people of Mapulanga in the Mtendere area were over the moon when Wells for Zoë provided them with a water pump for the first time, and at no cost. They had visited many offices in search of assistance with clean water in their village, but no one responded. They expressed their sincere gratitude to Wells for Zoë for providing safe and clean water in such a short period of time after their request.

Many people in the village are poor, and most of the men have migrated to South Africa in search of employment to support their families back home.
