Wedding Day Gift – Pip and John Donegan

Pip and John Donegan were married on January 17th 2015. They live in Middlesbrough in the North East of England. John is an electrician at the Captain Cook University Hospital and both John and Pip are prominent leaders in the Scout movement.

At their wedding celebration in the Hotel they constructed a ‘well-feature’ with gifts and boxes covered with ‘brick-style wallpaper’ People took a brick and left a donation…which was to raise money for a well in Northern Malawi.

At the end of their first day as a married couple they raised enough money for the work to begin in a village a few kilometres north of Mzuzu. They sent their wedding day gift to Malawi and the pictures below show Br Michael at the inauguration of the well producing cool, clear and clean water for the village for decades to come!

Isn’t it a lovely thought, that on their wedding day they thought of poor people far away in Sub Saharan Africa? The Well is dedicated to Pip and John – their wedding day gift!
