Leslie Shoemaker, BA, M.Sc., is a Counselling Psychologist, and she is a Registered Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland. Leslie received her Bachelor of Arts (honours degree) in Psychology in 1990 from Allegheny College which is located in Meadville, Pennsylvania. Next in 1995 Leslie was awarded her Masters degree from Trinity College Dublin.
Since 1995, Leslie’s professional work has been quite varied. It has extended from the management of her private practice, to providing training for various professionals and groups ranging from teachers, dentists and nurses as well as to teaching in a range of third level settings. Currently, Leslie lectures in the Dublin Institute of Technology in the College of Sciences and Health and in the College of Engineering and Built Environment.
In 2002, Leslie co-founded OCD Ireland. For twelve years she served as the Clinical Manager and National Spokesperson for this mental health non profit. During this time, Leslie established a number of support groups, free monthly talks as well as assisted in the development and management of the international OCD week.
