Board Member, Volunteer
Eilís tells us, she has a keen interest in Third World development, particularly the education of girls. She loves the fact that Wells for Zoë help the people to help themselves.
Eilís lives in Lucan with her husband Jim, where the founders John and Mary Coyne started the organisation from. She had done many local fundraisers, jewellery workshops, flower arranging demonstrations, craft fairs, crocheting finger puppets for the tiny preschoolers etc. She tells us, she was delighted to be able to put to good use her love of crafting.
For WfZ she has volunteered working on updating the website with the pump information, moving onto doing the same with the Girl Child Student project. She and her husband sponsored a girl, who, from the tender age of 14 found herself pregnant through no fault of her own. They saw her through her education and onto learning skills to support herself and her child in life.
Eilís currently undertakes the accounting of the daily receipts, checking meticulously the everyday spend and accountability for it in detail and linking each record to cloud storage.
Her interest in the Girl Child Student project has lead her to setting up a Tailoring Enterprise where the less academic girls can gain skills to support themselves in life. With 4 peddle Singer sewing machines operating, 4 girls trained and have been training others. They are currently working on a reusable sanitary pads project and making uniforms for those girls who have none.
When asked for a comment Eilís said:
“How wonderful to be able to be part of such an incredible organisation, where girls who dare to dream, really do get the opportunity to have their dreams come true.”
