This is Naomi Gondwe, who got third place in her class of 39, in Lupaso Community Day Secondary school. At 14 she is very young to be in Form Three. She went to Kasungu Primary school which is about 250 Km away so there is another story there.

 

Her father is dead and she has one brother. Her mother married again and when this happens there is a regular practice of the new man chasing away the children of the first marriage. She lives with her grandfather, so maybe this has happened here. Without Wells for Zoë, she might well be married off by now, in return for the dowry.

 

Her mathematics score is poor but Our Centre For Learning will help. We will do all in our power to keep her in school and unmarried. Biology 87%, Agriculture 73, English 68…

 

And a hard worker too.
