School GardenThis is a new project for us. We have employed a horticulturist to teach Women’s groups and school students how to grow their own food. Agriculture is part of all school’s curriculum, so teachers are delighted to have the practical side taught for them.

Here are photos for Kauwa primary school doing Horticulture.
Kauwa primary school, it has 4 blocks and 14 teachers, they have 2 shifts, morning and afternoon.Today Alinipha was working with std 7 B and 7D. She was introduced to the class by Mr Phiri, Mrs Mataya and Mrs Kumwenda, the teachers in std 7 teaching the subject Agriculture as part of the Primary Schools Curriculum. Alinipha was working with 120 pupils teaching them how to till land and make beds. She has also taught them 2 types of beds and that is raised and sunken, pupils have started making some beds.
Tomorrow they will start bringing farmyard manure to put them on the beds on monday and all this will be guided by Alinipha. They will also do nurseries on Monday and on top of this Alinipha will be working with 5 classes from Std 4 to Std 8 doing Horticulture. All the teachers very are happy with this programme.
